A NOTE FROM PERSIS GEARING McCARLEY --
This is my first-ever attempt to email a picture.  No. 1 grandson Daniel finally came on Thanksgiving Day and spent a few minutes with me after dinner helping me with the pictures in my computer in-box.  Please let me know if I'm not doing something right.
The picture shows (left to right) Persis Gearing McCarley, Marge Hall Pengel, Patty Kopf Colagiuri and Barbara Cole Ford at our "micro-reunion" luncheon in Cromwell, Connecticut in early October.

Mondays

After lonely weekends                                                      
when the friends are occupied
I go to a widowers group
at Robinsons-May, OASIS,
a resource center for those over 50.
We support each other, shed a few tears,
tell stories of consolation on Mondays.

    Paws in the Search


Today there was a topic,
"Life-Changing Passions,"
and I took along my striped cat painting,
"Paws in the Search,"
with apologies to David Ray,
who wrote The Endless Search.  I read
his memoir and found new insight
into grief and loneliness,
the absence of passion or feelings in me.

My painting was the first in 50 years,
not counting a tempera sketch or two.
If memories flood the half-century gap,
could the joy of my paintings expand and endure?
